Cape Agulhas / Hermanus

Drive up the scenic Sir Lowreys Pass and continue to the wheat growing area of Caledon.

Stop at the little farming town of Bredasdorp and visit SA’s only shipwreck museum before driving on to the coast. Struisbaai, a small fishing village, is famous for its old fishermen's cottages.

A short drive to Cape Agulhas - the southern most tip of the African continent. (34°39’ South), , where the two oceans meet. Stand with one foot in the Indian Ocean One and foot in the Atlantic Ocean. Climb to the top of the Cape Agulhas lighthouse, and view the rugged coastline - the cause of many shipwrecks

Leave for Hermanus traveling through Shaw’s mountain pass into the beautiful Hemel and Aarde valley. Hermanus is a seaside fishing town with two harbours - the old harbour (now a museum), and the functioning new harbour. This is a prime whale viewing area during the months from July to October. The whales can be viewed from numerous restaurants or an easy walk along the Walker Bay coastline. Overnight accommodation is in either the Marine Hotel or a luxury bed & breakfast.

The following day, the adrenalin adventurers can have the unique experience of diving in a cage and encountering the Great White Shark. Hermanus offers beautiful walks (mountain reserve and coastal walks), fishing, shopping and has numerous little museums and art galleries.

The leisurely drive back will be via the scenic coastal route, Cape Hangklip, along the False Bay coastline to Gordons Bay and on to Cape Town.
